  Join us for a time to chat, make lace together, and share ideas with fellow lacemakers.  This is not a formal teaching event, nor an NELG business meeting.  It’s an opportunity to see what other people are working on, share time with other lacemakers, and to give and get lacemaking inspiration.  

  This is a chance for everyone to get together during the week, for those who are not available on weekends, those are not able to drive, are too far away, or just love to get together with others.

  Dual cameras make it most enjoyable - one so we can see the lacemaker, and the other so we all can see your lace!  But this is entirely optional. This generally requires two devices - a cell phone on a stand to show your lace, and a tablet, laptop, or desktop so we can see you.  You will sign into the Zoom on both devices but will mute Zoom on your cell phone.

  Registration is not required. The Zoom link will be shared in the announcement email.

  We will be located in the homestead, and a table and chairs will be provided for us. There will also be a food truck and the Historical Society's bake sale. Coffee and water will be provided for demonstrators and you are welcome to bring your own lunch.

  The Connecticut Sheep, Wool & Fiber Festival celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2009. The festival started in 1909 by the CT Sheep Breeders Association as a program "to promote the keeping of sheep in Connecticut" by visiting farms and eventually to a one day event held at UCONN. It has evolved and expanded into a premier sheep and fiber festival. This event is family friendly agricultural and learning experience for the general public as well as shepherds and fiber enthusiasts.

  The New England Lace Group invites you to the largest gathering of lacemakers in Ipswich, MA for over 200 years!

  If you are interested in attending and/or demonstrating lacemaking, please register so that we know how many to expect. Anyone interested in fiber arts or learning more about the history of lacemaking in Ipswich is welcome to attend. In addition to demonstrating, our Ipswich mobile exhibit will be on display and the curator of the Ipswich Museum will also exhibit artifacts from the museum's collection that relate to Ipswich lace.

  Creating a fiber arts fair was a life-long dream of quilter and fabric enthusiast, Irene Zibell. In loving memory of Irene, her daughters Barbara and Marilyn are hosting this Fiber Arts Fair, bringing her dream into reality. The fair will take place at St James Episcopal Church, Amesbury, MA from 9am to 3pm.

  The hope is that this will be a festival-like atmosphere with fiber enthusiasts of all kinds. Demonstrations of all kinds of crafts will be on-going through the day, including crochet, knitting, bobbin lace, weaving, yarn spinning, needle felting, wool embroidery, yarn products and hand-crafted bags.

  There will be a designated area for an English tea style café and restroom facilities are available.

  The library opens at 10:30 a.m., so please come early to visit with your lace making friends. Please register for this event so we know how many to expect.

  After the program, please stay and make lace together. This is an opportunity to share our work in progress and to get help from others. Those who are new(er) to lacemaking and need some coaching or advice will be able to sit with a more experienced lace maker for assistance. Please note, this is not intended to be formal teaching, but a way to help less experienced lacemakers.

  Program: Tatting - led by NELG members Bryce Wolf, Carolyn Wetzel and Sharon Sacco

  This program will concentrate on the methods of continuous tatting where stops and knots are minimized. Split ring and split chain are the methods that will be discussed. In addition to how to make these, we will also discuss some of the difficulties in making these less visible. A small pattern will be provided for practice.

  We have been invited to demonstrate lacemaking the historic Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT during the Coventry Farmers' Market, which is the largest farmers' market in the state. The market is open from 10am - 1pm. We will have access to the barns at 9am to set up for the 10am market opening and need to be cleaned up and off the property by 2pm.

  Historic costumes are optional, but if you have a costume from the appropriate time period please feel free to wear it!

  If you are interested in attending, please register by Monday, July 7.

  After the program, please stay and make lace together. This is an opportunity to share our work in progress and to get help from others. Those who are new(er) to lacemaking and need some coaching or advice will be able to sit with a more experienced lace maker for assistance. Please note, this is not intended to be formal teaching, but a way to help less experienced lacemakers.

  We have been invited to demonstrate lacemaking the historic Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT during the Coventry Fiber Market. The market is open from 10am - 1pm. We will have access to the barns at 9am to set up for the 10am market opening and need to be cleaned up and off the property by 2pm.

  Historic costumes are optional, but if you have a costume from the appropriate time period please feel free to wear it!

  The meeting rotates through members' homes and generally takes place on the first Saturday of the month from 10am to 4pm.

  This is our holiday party where we will have our usual gift exchange.  If you would like to participate in the exchange, please bring an inexpensive (no more than $10), wrapped, lace-related gift.

  Instead of meeting at the library, we will gather for lunch (separate checks) at the Historic Tap Room at the Publick House in Sturbridge to celebrate the holiday season. The restaurant suggest bringing cash to speed up the checkout process, since credit card transactions typically take 2-3 minutes each to process.

  If you plan to participate in our annual gift exchange, please bring an inexpensive, wrapped lace/textile/fiber-related gift or a lace holiday decoration.

  We have a reservation for 20 people (their maximum). In order to confirm headcount with the restaurant, this is an RSVP event. Registration must be received no later than December 1.
