Enjoy a winter weekend in the heart of historic Plymouth, learning bobbin lacemaking from one of the country’s premier expert instructors, Holly van Sciver. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of this traditional skill over two intense six-hour days. More advanced students will receive individual attention depending on their level and needs.

Holly will introduce beginners to the language of lace, including cloth stitch, half stitch and whole stitch, by working an hourglass pattern.  Continuing students will tackle multiple skills like sewings, footside techniques, fillings, joins, crossings, petals, tallies, working with color, and much, much more.  Those who wish to work in the traditional English laces including Torchon, Bedfordshire, Bucks, Honiton or Lester at any level are also welcome to join this class.

Delicious, holiday appropriate, lunches are included. Our venue, the Whitfield House,  is conveniently located in Plymouth’s most historic neighborhood, steps from Plymouth Rock, Pilgrim Hall, and Burial HIll, not to mention restaurants, shopping, galleries, and night-life. To make your experience as luxurious as it is educational, contact the Whitfield House directly for lodging in their extraordinary B&B.

See more at Plymouth Craft.

This is not an NELG-sponsored event.
