Join us this weekend for a special New England Lace Group road trip to the University of Rhode Island Historic Textile & Costume Collection!
We will meet on the third floor of Quinn Hall on the URI Kingston campus (map at
http://www.uri.edu/home/visitors/Map/) at 11:00 am on April 16 to view the Bainbridge Lace Collection (
http://www.uri.edu/hss/tmd/bainbridge.html), hosted by Dr. Margaret Ordoñez, Director of HTCC. Dr. Ordoñez will have the collection open for us until 2:30 or 3:00 pm, so bring a snack or lunch to eat there.
The front door to Quinn Hall will be unlocked and the closest parking lot is off of Campus Avenue in front of Green Hall. Another is behind the URI Foundation building off of Fortin Road. A little further north on Upper College Drive is a parking lot accessible from Chapel Road. Since it is Saturday, people can park in any legal spot (not handicapped or fire lanes).
This is a unique opportunity to see lace in one of the premier historic textile and costume collections in the USA. Hope to see many of you there!
