The Way Sisters: Miniatures of the Early Republic

  • October 30, 2021
  • January 23, 2022
  • Lyman Allen Art Museum, New London, CT

This exhibition presents the work of Mary Way (1769–1833) and Elizabeth Way Champlain (1771–1825), pioneering sisters from New London, Connecticut. They produced watercolor miniatures and unique “dressed” paper portraits with fabric clothing between 1790 and 1825. Some of the portraits sport what looks to be Ipswich Lace! For more information, visit the museum website at https://www.lymanallyn.org/

On Tuesday, November 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, there will be a special curator tour of the exhibit. This link brings you to their webpage to register for the tour: https://www.lymanallyn.org/events-2/gallery-talk-the-way-sisters/
