At the Morse Institute demo yesterday, someone who was part of the Gather events came by. She asked if I knew about this Handwork thing. She said it was a bit like Gather and a lot of the same folks are involved. But this is national.

She said that if you have a group with events you can publicize them on their calendar, like the Gather system. But it requires a vetting interview of some sort before you can access their calendar.

Not just for NELG--all our other orgs that we are with might be interested in this. Weavers, embroiderers, etc.

But everything I know about it I read from their site, so I don't have any other insights on it yet.

If anyone happens to have some Brok cotton thread size 24/3 they can spare, I'd appreciate getting a sample of it so I can figure out a substitution now that it's been discontinued.

    Thanks! Carolyn

This is supposed to be a gift link, but I'm not sure it's working. My first attempt at a WSJ gift link.

As part of the celebrations taking place for Revolution 250, there is a wonderful embroidery project involving the original 13 states, called "America's Tapestry". Check out all the details here.

On Sunday, September 21 the work will be on display at the Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT. Maybe it will be visiting a location near you?

That piece of giant tatting cracked me up. The video has no lace in it, just the story and photos below.

The Utah State Fair proves that quilting, knitting, tatting, and other fiber arts aren’t just for grannies

Not a fan of the title though.
