We had a great day at Winann's this past Saturday.

I'm experimenting with a new camera, and spentsome time trying out some of it's features.  It was fun and I expect that we should have some great picutes from the Big E.

This is a picture of a piece of lace in progress from one of the attendees on Saturday.  Can you guess who?

The Eastern MA Sunday Lace group will meet on Sunday, Sept. 18th (NOT Sept. 11) at Sharon's.  Please let her know if you plan to attend.

I will be taking entries out to the Big E.  If you have something you would like transported, please get them to me by Friday, Sept. 9th.

No real storm damage here.  Only a short power blip!

We are on the other side of the storm - phew!  As many of us are getting back utilities, picking up lots of limbs and tree removal courtsey of Irene, we are getting ready for CT Lace Day - this Saturday the 3rd at Winann's in Milford.

Anyone that would like their BIG E entry brought up to the fair grounds, please deliver your prize winning piece of lace to Winann's this Saturday.

Remember that NELG's first meeting of the year will be on Saturday September 10th.

    Thanks everyone!

For those of you in New England and on the eastern seaboard of the US, I hope the storm doesn't get the the best of you.  May it pass by and without harm to you and yours.

Hmmm..  sounds like a great time to work on your lace ... even by candle light.

    Stay Safe and Dry Everyone

For those you of you that enjoyed IOLI 2011 in Bethesda this year, next year's convention will take place in Minnesota.  You can click here to see the  proposed class schedule  that just came out today.

Hmm  lots to think about!  Additional information can be found at the Minnesota Lace Society.  The host chapter is asking for hand made lace stars.  I have sent a request for patterns to them and they hope to get back to us really soon.

Class schedule looks to be promising!

We have been watching the map and bingo - we exceeded 1,000 unique visitors since February when we launched the new website.

Thank you to all!  It is a tremendous accomplishment, because of you!  This is your organization and we want to know what you think, what you would like, and how to make your experience with NELG the best.  Not only as a lace making group, but a group a great individuals that are some of the best and brightest artists around.  Yes, that's you.

Again, thanks for making it happen!  We look forward to breaking 5,000!

    Hi all,

Earlier this morning a blast email has gone out about the Big E Signup.   Can you believe it?  I'm already looking forward to the fair.  It's not just about the demonstrating making lace , I love that part, it is the whole event.  Hanging out in the barns, watching the horse shows and possibly seeing a calf born is always a treat.

This is a great opportunity to show case your skills and talk up NELG.  On the website there is the NELG Broshure.  I will be bringing up a large supply of broshures, but I remind all of you to bring some more.  You can check out FAQ's on demonstrating especially if you haven't demonstrated or need a refresher.

For those of you that have made an entry - Thank You!  Judging will take place on Monday Sept 12th.  As soon as we have the results, we will post them on our site.

I encourage you to sign up to demonstrate!  It's a great time, we are very popular, and you get to enjoy the fair as well.  I especially like the ability to park at the back gate!

    Hope to see you there!

    Hi everyone -

It's a glorious day here and I hope all of you are out enjoying the late days of August.

If you haven't seen your email in the last two days - the member program survey is active.  In the last couple of days - we have had a great response and you, our members, are sending in great ideas and advice.  We so appreicate the information.

To get to the survey - click on Members Only on the menu to the left (you'll need to be logged in) and the first item is the survey.  It will take you less than 2 minutes to answer!

Thanks again - looking forward to your responses,

    Patty

Thanks to Jill when I found in my inbox was an email reminder that my membership to NELG is due in two weeks.

Yes she and I have worked long to get all the members signed up at the website.  Now we are seeing the benefits.  Over 40 reminders were automatically generated saving us time, paper, and postage.  Much thanks for those members that used the PayPal feature this morning as it saves time and energy for our Treasurer Winann.  Of course, you may mail  in a check to renew your membership.

While automation is fine, please be assured that there still will be the personal touch in taking care of anything you may need.  Mark your calendar for September 10th - it will be our first meeting of the year.  You will be receiving a reminder about two weeks in advance with links to information you should bring to the meeting.

    Thanks again,

    Patty

I was cruising the Fiberarts Magazine website and came across a study being done by a psychology professor at University of Wisconsin,  "Exploring the Role of Textiles and Handcrafts in Women's Lives II" If you want to participate, go to the website and take her survey: http://www.uwec.edu/psyc/Who/collier.htm

Note that this is NOT the NELG programs survey that Patty mentioned in a previous post!
