If yesterday's present didn't knock my socks off, Laura Bensley emailed this a.m. and said she has the last two issues that are missing to the NELG newsletter collection.

Thank you Laura Bensley for taking the time to look through your NELG stash and find them.

There is something special about having the complete collection.  It's those lace makers that took their time and efforts to bring all of us together.  In the long effort to scan them, make sure they are readable, find a internet host to store the issues (free), and eventually make them available on-line to our membership.  Jill, we are just about ready to cross another to-do off our list!

    Again, Thank you.

    Happy Lacing, Patty

Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.

    Forrest Gump (Tom Hank)

In today's mail - it was like getting chocolates for NELG.  Thanks to Tina Allen, she has lent us her copies of the missing newsletters.  These copies have been scanned and added to our Library.... <read more>

In these missing newsletters, there was white chocolate, plenty of Sally Barry's patterns and prickings.  Rich dark chocolate stories of our retreats held at Tiverton and at Sacred Hearts, it was the eluding to the Saturday nights.  There was  fun milk chocolate in the interviews of our members, puzzels by Gail, and just great news about making lace.

Lets just say - there are some great stories in the newsletters.  I hope in the future that will be pull a few of them out so we can stroll down memory lane.

So NELG - Happy Valentine's Day!

Can you figure out when Pene Piip's Tatted Heart appeared the the newsletter?

I just heard through Lacy Susan's newsletter that Sallie Reason passed away from cancer. Cherish your bobbins painted by her as a memory of her talent and spirit!

Remindnig everyone that our NELG Monthly Meeting is only a week away.

So far the weather has been holding up and we have been enjoying great sunshine the last couple of days.  It's still cold and we still have feet of snow on the ground.

Sounds like we need to get together and enjoy our program on Croation Lace, win a door prize and make some lace.  We all know how I like to win a prize.

Looking forward to seeing you next weekend.

    Happy Lacing - **Christina**

As reported in the IOLI Bulletin and in our Newsletter by Jill, there is great news about hosting the international convention.

Beginning with the 2013 event, any profit is split between IOLI and the host group, yet (and here's the change) any loss is borne entirely by IOLI.

This year 2011 is being hosted by our Friends in Maryland Chesapeake Lace Guild, the next year 2012, the Minnesota Lace Society is beginning their prerparation.

So what about bringing it to New England!  Yes it is alot of work, though anything worth doing is generally alot of work.  We have those great lace makers that have gone before us, so what do you think ?  Chime in here!

As reported in the newsletter, we have been working on getting a full electronic set of NELG newsletters from the beginning of time.

Thanks to Tina Allen for finding #'s 23, 25, 26, 47, 49, 51, 53.  I'm looking forward to scanning them and logging them into our archives.

We are still looking for #'s 17, 24, 48, 52.  If you find them in your library, please send an email to nelginfo@gmail.com or directly to me at pattyjfoley@pattyjfoley.com and we can get them from you.  Please be sure that your copies will be returned.

    Thanks again to Tina!

    Hi all,

Please check in that you have forwarded all your volunteer hours for 2010 to Baraba, our Member At  Large.

We are getting ready to launch our on-line reporting form for Volunteer Hours.  Your volunteer hours helps us get the word out about Lace. Collection the hours allows us to report them to IOLI as a matter of keeping IOLI's non-profit status.  Thank you in advance for all you do to promote lace in our communities.

Keep your eyes open for the launch news.  You'll need to log in and the form will be found the the Members Only area.

We have just published the 72nd issue of the NELG Newsletter. It is our intention to make all issues available on our website. To that end, Patty Foley has been busy scanning the issues for which we don‘t have an electronic version. We find that we are missing some issues. If you are a pack rat and have been an NELG member for quite a while, please check your own archives for these missing issues and mail them to Patty for scanning; she‘ll send them right back to you. Thanks!

The missing newsletters are issues#47, #48, #49, #51, #52 and #53 (between May 2004 and June 2006). Also missing is issue #17, most likely January 1997. Finally, please look for issues #23, #24, #25 and #26 (these issues are between May 1998 and August 1999).
