I have set myself something of a challenge and am hoping NELG members will be able to help. I would like to have a photograph of each of the NELG commemorative bobbins so there will be a record for the future.

I have looked through my bobbins and have managed to locate 12 - the oldest being from 1997 when we had the retreat at Bloomfield Seminary in CT - but there are definitely some gaps. Please take a look at this document to see which ones I have already found: NELG Commemorative Bobbins.pdf

I would appreciate it very much if you could look through your collection of bobbins and either email me a photograph, or bring the bobbin(s) to this year's retreat so I can take photographs?

A friend sent me this link to a website for a business that revitalizes and sells antique lace and linens. Cannot get a good close up to see if the lace is handmade, but it is lovely to look at, nonetheless! Enjoy!

I saw a reference to this exhibit at the Smithsonian's American Art Museum (http://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/online/birds/ ) this morning on the NPR website.  They had a picture of a lovely crocheted pigeon on the page, so I dug a little deeper and found the artist who had made this, Laurel Roth Hope.  Here is a link to the Smithsonian's page on her: http://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/online/birds/artists/roth/ .  She has several Crocheted birds there and I think they are gorgeous and perhaps at times even lacy.  Enjoy!

It looks like winter has finally decided to put in an appearance.  While the weather outside may be frightful,  the lace making indoors is delightful.  So here’s another lace making activity to keep you going through this season’s snow:

The Lace Challenge ATC subject has been chosen for this year’s retreat and packets will be available at the February and March meetings.  Or, if you prefer, I will mail you a packet upon request.  Submit your original design ATC at Retreat and whether you participate or not, don’t forget to vote for your favorite design.  Prizes will be awarded!
