Coping with the times

I hope everyone is staying safe.  While our retreat in May has been cancelled, I am wondering what everyone is doing.  For myself, I am working on the carp-dragon piece I started in 2012.  I suspect that I will finish it this time. What I love about this piece, aside from the design, is that it takes a lot of problem solving.  The order of the bobbins is fairly complicated, so it takes some concentration.

So what are you doing to cope with this social distancing that is fiber related?  Are you working on an interesting (to you) piece of lace?  Are you sewing something?  We would love to hear what you are doing that is fiber related now.

Like you, I am finishing some of the UFOs that have been languishing for too long. Not only bobbin lace, but knitting and sewing, as well as projects around the house.

I finished sewing some pajamas that I had started a few weeks ago, and have completed a pair of socks for my husband. In terms of bobbin lace, I have been working on some earrings that I had been asked to make several months ago; I had done the design and started to work one soon after I received the commission, but then stalled because it wasn't looking the way I wanted. When I looked at the lace yesterday, it was clear that I should work it differently - which is what I have done. Feeling much happier now!

Staying safe here. But not much lace going on. Luckily I bought a bunch of thread from Holly before it all went off the rails. But I've been sewing masks (at the request of our local hospital group), and delivering food to seniors.

I'm not a fan of the mask pattern, but it's what they asked for. And it's not super hard, a couple of straight seams. I'm not really good at production volume though....
