Ithaca Lace Days

Hi all,

I'm at Ithaca Lace Days.  It is really interesting and to find out,  quite a few NELG members are in attendance.

Friday night was a little get together, pick up your package of items needed for the weekend, there was a lovely table set with good pickies - cold and hot, practically a meal in of itself.  Of course the rain came on Friday night!  Though it did not put a damper on the evening.  Great to put faces with names on individuals who are in our lace community and to meet new people.

Saturday a.m. is a race to see all the vendors and the show me tables.  Definitely bring your checkbook!  I did get some tatting thread and a couple of booklets.  I'll
do the bobbin lace items later.

The mid-day speaker, Senora Marina Regueiro, was just delightful.  Her lecture on Hinojasa Lace was facinating.  It is a tape lace - unlike any other.  The pictures and  real pieces she was able to share with us - outstanding.  It is truly amazing what you can do with about 11-18 pairs of bobbins!  I found the stories of how the lace came to be - relatively a new lace, and of course the folk tales that come with it.

My class was the beginners class.  Why beginners you may ask?  Well back to an earlier entry here - we need teachers, we need a schedule, to offer beginning classes.  Ms. Jean Jagendorf is the teacher.  Many of you know her.  Her class is so far just right.  Everyone in the class is keeping up - there are seven of us.  We started with the tape lace strip with sections in English whole stitch, whole stitch twist, and half stitch.

It's time to get ready for the banquet!  By the way - the sun came out and it is beautiful outside!

Love you lace from Ithaca,
Patty
